Leprechauns are really bad at following directions, so it's best if you put some sort of warning on the trap for them to stay away. We sweetened the deal by putting "gold" (money) on top and inside.
While Reed was sleeping, leprechaun Ryan and Megan spent a few hours cutting shamrocks and stars out with the help of Mandi's cricut (thanks Mando!) and creating a leprechaun trail.
Reed woke up in the morning and immediately noticed the trail...so we decided to follow it...
The leprechaun came in Asher's window and took a pit stop on the rocking chair to read a book:
Then he went into the hallway, climbed up the wall to turn on the light, and went into Reed's room. He stopped to play with toy; while he was playing a treat fell out of his pocket. Reed got to keep the treat!
Next, he headed down the stairs:
He got distracted by toys again and stopped to play:
And another treat fell out of his pocket:
Next, he made a quick stop in the bathroom, where he dyed the potty water green!
What a trickster!
(The green potty was one of Reed's favorite parts)
We followed his trail under Reed's Thomas train bridge
He headed to the kitchen...and went into our fridge!
Then he played another trick on us, dyeing the milk green:
(The green milk was also a hit!)
Then he finally made it to our leprechaun trap...
But he was tricky and got out! Luckily, even though he took the money, he left a sucker behind!
(We checked again later, and he still wasn't in there)
Then Mr. Leprechaun snuck out our window!
Reed checked out the window, but the leprechaun was long gone:
We had fun playing leprechaun and look forward to his visit next year.
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
