(Is it weird that I know the entire intro song to Jake and the Neverland Pirates and sing it all the time?)
We welcomed ourselves into the world of iphones by getting hooked on geocaching. What is geocaching? Basically a giant treasure hunt with multiple treasures and many treasure hunters/hiders. Reed is a big fan of pirates, which means he is a big fan of treasure, which means he loves geocaching.
We generally cache on weekend mornings, using our trusty wagon to transport the boys:
Reed loves looking at the map to see if we are on the right path. He spends a lot of time pretending he has maps at home, so has a lot of practice.
On one geocaching outing, he was particularly excited about a treasure he spotted before we found the cache. Can you guess what it is?
A dove bird! A few weeks ago, my dad pointed out to Reed the noise of a dove bird cooing. Ever since, he's been extremely excited every time he hears a dove bird (which is basically every time we go outside). He always wants to see one, and today we were lucky. The bird didn't move, even when we got close--I think she may have been protecting a few eggs:
Asher doesn't really care about the treasure aspect of treasure hunting. He does enjoy the being outside, stick finding, rock throwing aspects, though.
We haven't found every treasure (kind of embarrassing to admit, yes), but every time we do find a treasure Reed is like a kid on Christmas. And so is Ryan...and so am I!
We are planning to hide our own geocache soon!
