It was our last day in California, so we decided to spend it in the best way possible: at the beach. We hadn't planned on going to the beach, but when you have a brother who has a backyard that is the beach, why wouldn't you spend the day there? Eric and Mary were sweet enough to come let us check out their new beach house and enjoy their backyard:
(By the way, ten seconds after I took this picture that piece of seaweed went directly INTO HER MOUTH. I don't know I was surprised. But it was disgusting.)
Per tradition, Lila got to dip her chubby toes into the ocean for the first time, ever. She was not impressed at all.
The boys, on the other hand, were in heaven. After digging in the sand for a good twenty minutes, they decided to play in the water. They'd wait for the surf, and as soon as it touched their toes, they'd book it for higher ground. Their shorts got a little bit soaked.
After playing on the beach, we had an amazing lunch, then walked along the harbor for a little while. The weather was amazing and it was the perfect way to end our trip.
After the beach, we drove alllll the way home. I'm so mean for posting this picture, but the kids were wiped out...see?
