Fourth of July

We started our Fourth of July celebrations by gate crashing Janelle's ward Fourth of July breakfast, where Lila convinced all the kids to do her bidding for the picture pose.

After feasting, we went to Lemon Park--where we were basically too hot to play! We walked around to see the ducks and tried to convince the kids to play, but our efforts were in vain. The heat won and we went to Grandma and Grandpa's house--after a brief stop at the $5 bookstore, where Reed and Lila posed with Harry Potter like bosses.

We went to Shannon's house in the afternoon, where we enjoyed a lovely BBQ and even lovelier swimming time. Lila is the youngest cousin and kind of has everyone wrapped around her tiny cute finger. She convinced her entourage to push her around the pool on a giant tube and always had at least one person playing with her. At Shannon's we also experienced a s'more made with PEANUT BUTTER COOKIES. Lives were changed. The PB S'more was so. good.

And finally it was time for fireworks! Simi's fireworks were being shot off from a different location this year, so we decided to view from a different location. We've watched fireworks from the field behind the church for 8 years and have always had a good time--and to be honest I was a little skeptical about this "new spot." But I went with it and we were pleasantly surprised. We had an awesome spot and could see all the fireworks clearly, without the treetops blocking our view. Lila cuddled right up to Zoe, which was pretty much the cutest thing ever.

Per usual, Grandma had brought gobs of glow sticks as well as tons of tattoos and poppers. By the end of the night, the kids were heavily tattooed--their belly buttons, faces, lips, eye lids, etc. were all covered--and glowing. They went to town on the poppers, too, and were snapping all over the place.

Asher and Lila both fell asleep within five minutes of getting into the car, which means we had a good day. (Reed hasn't ever felt tired in his life or he'd have been asleep too.)
